Biographical details: Born in Gemert (Flanders); he likely started his career as bookseller in Lyon; during the 1530s he was in Bologna where he married Nicolosia di Sebastiano de Amicis and where he run a bookshop; he had a strong relationship with Arnoldio Arlenio. He moved to Florence after the request of Lelio Torelli and the latter's project of publishing the Digest under the auspices of the duke Cosimo. The activity in Florence was not always easy and Torrentino started a new workshop in Pescia. In 1562 he was invited by Emanuele Filiberto, duke of Savoy, to start an official printing shop in Mondovì, where the duke had open the University. Torrentino only spent a few weeks in Mondovì before coming back to Florence where he died on 1563.
He pushling about 250 editions, always usign the emblem of the Medici as his mark, as an official printing shop.
