Headings: Gregorius IX, Pont. Max. (formerly Ugolino, Count of Segni) Decretales cum glossa. Edited with a gloss by Hieronymus Clarius. Ed: Sebastian Brant
[Woodcut depicting Gregory IX enthroned inside a cross-vaulted study, in the background of which can be seen shelves with vases, a lectern, a desk and numerous papers and books. He holds an open book in front of him and shows it to a man wearing a fur-lined cape kneeling before him, who hands him a leaflet. Between the pages of the book is a bookmark which extends into a vine forming five circles. Inside these circles are scenes illustrating some of the subjects dealt with in the collection of laws (two scenes of judgement, a murder, the celebration of a mass and of a wedding). From the doorway of the study, a large group of people watches the scene of the book presentation. Some nuns and a jurist (fur-lined cloak) can be seen among them. ]
