Behind him, an acolyte grabs the hand of a layman and pushes him away from the sacred space, admonishing him with a finger, as he is not allowed to witness the ritual.]

His right hand is elevated in a blessing gesture (raised index and middle finger), his left hand is placed on top of the joined hands of the spouses, making their union official (dextrarum iunctio, even though they are joining their left hands). The bride holds her right hand on her chest, while the groom raises his right hand to express his consent. He is escorted by a companion, who holds his right hand on his chest.]

He raises his index finger and turns towards the right, where a bishop kneels with his hands joined in prayer, and a man raises his right hand to address the pope. The latter should be probably identified as the bishop’s defence lawyer. On the opposite side stand two more men, who represent the prosecution; one of them raises his left hand and his right index finger to object to the lawyer’s plea.]
